Cross of the Voluntary Combatant of Resistance

The Croix of the voluntary combatant of Resistance is a French decoration created after the Second world war.

As for the Cross of the combatant, they are the holders of a specific chart who are authorized to carry this decoration. It is about the chart of the voluntary Combattant of Resistance, known as “green chart” because of its color.

History

It is the law of the March 25th 1949, bearing statute of the voluntary Combatants of the Résistance which had envisaged a commemorative medal with regard to them. But it is finally the law of the April 15th 1954 which created this new decoration.

To be authorized to carry this decoration, it was necessary to have rested for at least three months, before the June 6th 1944, in a zone occupied by the enemy, either with FFI, or FC, or an organization of approved resistance.

Characteristics

Of a width of 36 mm, black color with at each end a red band. Crossed vertically of four green bands including two placed at the medium, two others towards the edge.
  • Medal

Bronze cross gilded of 36 mm, with side a Cross of Lorraine in relief and other, the inscription “Voluntary Combatant of Resistance”.
