Cross of Jerusalem

The cross of Jerusalem (☩, Unicode U+2629) is a very old emblem of the Chrétiens of the East.

According to the tradition, the blazon of Jerusalem (money , with the potencée, confined gold cross of four small crosses of very the ) voluntarily contravenes the rules Héraldique S, for better marking the very particular prestige of this city. Indeed, the heraldic science prohibited of " superposer" same matters. In this case, the crosses - of gold - are superimposed at the money bottom.

Perhaps its origin goes back to the Phéniciens, in the shape of a white cross (sometimes green) with eight points. It was said that it represented the eight Béatitudes Christ.
