History
Cross-of-Life appears only at the 16th century, to receive the sailors of Gilles Saint. The sieurs of Montausier, lords of Mothe Ruffée, conceded to them pieces of ground at the place called the Small island to raise residential buildings. Cross-of-life made beautiful great strides, in 1610, thanks to Mrs Marie de Beaucaire, Baronne of Laugh, who made build the Large Mole and the New Quay Madam (today bay of Adon), as well as the vault who was the church of Cross of Life until 1896, year of the construction of the current church. In 1622, the king Louis XIII dined and laid down with Cross-of-Life in the residence seigneuriale of the family of Lézardière, located at the current site of the building the Balconies of the Center, street de Gaulle.
Cross-of-life is also used as framework with a legend of the 19th century related to the Fredet , chimney dug by the sea in the rock by which the Ressac spouts out like a Geyser. This legend was collected by Henri Teissier which will publish it in the form of small work in 1860 in Fredet, captions Vendean , Nantes, Imprimerie Merson, 1860.
