Crixus

Crixus , died in -72, was a Gallic slave.

He was one of the leaders to with dimensions of Spartacus and Oenomaus of the rebellion of slaves which led to the Third servile War.

He had fought for the Allobroges against the Romans and had been captured. Like his companions, it had been involved like gladiator with Capoue. On several occasions, in the first engagements, its troop of Celtic gladiators changed the course of the battle while attacking at the places weakest of the army of slave.

At the beginning the army of slaves gained successes, demolishing the forces of the Roman Senate sent against the insurrection. However, Crixus separated from Spartacus towards the end of the year. Spartacus wanting to run away itself to join the fatherlands of the slaves as a Gaulle and with Balkans, but it is said that Crixus preferring to live plunderings, remained in Southern Italy.

It is killed at the beginning of the revolt by the Roman legions at the time of a battle
