Crisis constitucional

The district of the Rhine-Erft , in German Rhein-Erft-Kreis , is a administrative division German, located in the Land Rhineland-of-North-Westphalia.

Geographical location

The district of the Rhine-Erft is located at the south-west of the Land of Rhineland-of-North-Westphalia in the east of the town of Cologne. It has limits with the town of Cologne in the east and the districts of the the Rhine-Sieg and of Euskirchen in the south, Düren in the west and the Rhine Neuss in north.

History

The district was creates like district of Erft ( Erftkreis ) on January 1st, 1975 by law of November 5th, 1974 by amalgamating the old districts of Bergheim and Cologne. After the cassation of its incorporation at the town of Cologne by the constitutional court the town of Wesseling was attached to the district on July 1st, 1976. The Council Decision to re-elect the district Rhein-Erft-Kreis took effect on November 1st, 2003.

The town of Brühl is the old residence of the archbishop and prince voter of Cologne.
