Crips

The Crips constitute one of the macro-gangs which prevail mainly in South Central Los Angeles.

As it should be, Crips (in blue) and Bloods (in red) are hated cordially and their competition very often finishes in exchange of shots. The traditional color of membership of the gang is blue for Crips. In addition these gangs are marked by a strong conscience group to see an ideology. That is illustrated well in the contents of the graffiti and tattooings which their members carry. The Crips gangs even created their own step of dance: “the crip-walk” also called “meaning C-Walk”: the walk of the crips. There are enormously gangs affiliated to Crips but as they are accustomed to fighting between them as well as with the other gangs, this compensates for that.

History

The gang of Crips was founded in 1971 by Stanley Tookie Williams and Raymond Washington. During the summer 1972, Crips of Compton and Pirus had a conflict and a battle without mercy followed. Pirus were fewer and Crips carried it. Pirus wanted to thus put an end to the relations peaceful and friendly with Crips and turned to Lueders Park Hustlers to ask them their assistance. They accepted and a meeting was organized on Piru Street. Crips had killed a member of the L.A. Brim to the beginning of the year, consequently Pirus their also required to join them. Denver Lanes and Bishops were also present at go.

In 1980, the area of Los Angeles counted approximately 30.000 members of gangs and in 1982, the gangs started to sell narcotics enormously. The ace became the news Drogue sails about it and the members of the gangs collected thousands of dollars each night by dealant it. The market of this drug created a new source of competition between the two large gangs.

The number of homicides increased each year of 1985 with 1992 but after the riots, the figure was stabilized.

Today there are about 274 Gang S attached to Bloods and Crips in the area of Los Angeles. One can also now find them in all the the United States like in certain cities Canadian S, to also see in Europe, this because some of the members of the gangs migrated from Los Angeles towards these cities but also because some of the young people of these cities imitated the culture Gangsta of Los Angeles. In 1998, one counted approximately 150.000 members of the gangs in the area of Los Angeles. One can also realize that the number of homicides allotted to the war of the gangs in fall with only 399 in 1998, is compared to the 805 in 1995.
