Cretonne

The cretonne is a fabric rather extremely, consisted of wire of hemp, flax or Coton on a armor of fabric and whose Contexture is square. It is mainly employed for furnishing (covers of protection for the pieces of furniture, curtains), the household linen (under-slips).
One allots the origin of cretonne to Paul Creton, Tisserand of Vimoutiers which would have invented it in 1640. A payment of 1738 imposed that the cretonne is of pure flax.
