Creem
Creem , " America' S Only Rock'n'roll “Roll Magazine" (called the only magazine of Rock' roll of America) was a monthly magazine treating of the rock' roll which was created in 1969 by Barry Kramer and Tony Reay. It suspended its publication in 1988. To ballast Bangs, known like " largest critic of rock'n'roll of USA" was one of the first authors of Creem.
The terms of Punk rock'n'roll was used for the first time in Creem in 1971, just like the term of Heavy metal.
The head office of Creem was located at Détroit, Michigan. Its position offset compared to the places where was made the rain and the good weather as regards music, and compared to the seats of the large firms of entertainment. It is what encouraged a disrespectful and dépréciatif tone in the magazine.
This geographical location pushed the magazine to be one of the first national magazines to cover local artists and groups like Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, Bob Seger, Ted Nugent, Parliament-Funkadelic and other groups of Midwest like Cheap Trick and The Raspberries.
CREEM was interested the first in the movements Punk Rock'n'roll and New wave, of the years before the other magazines as Rolling Stones awakes finally. They granted an important place to Lou Reed, Bowie or the New York Dolls before they are taken in the gears of the celebrity.
The famous milk " bottle; Servant boy Howdy" , logo of the magazine, was drawn by R. Crumb, which was paid for the drawing.
The team of CREEM counted Richard Meltzer, Dave DiMartino, Penny Valentine, Richard Riegel, Rick Johnson, Dave Marsh, Lester Bangs, Jaan Uhelszki, Greil Marcus, Patti Smith, Nick Tosches, Cameron Crowe, J. Kordosh, and Bill Holdship, which became one of editor associations of the magazine in the middle of the years 80.Le seat of the magazine moved in Los Angeles little before its resignation.
Bill Holdship and J. Kordosh one invited to follow CREEM to Los Angeles after its repurchase by Arnold Levitt, but both left the magazine before its removal, after Levitt puts the name of the magazine under license. Steve Peters and David Sprague, both of good journalists of CREEM were the last to remain original leading chain of 1969.
Robert Matheu, photographer usually working with CREEM since 1978, and its associate Ken Kulpa direct a reappearing version of CREEM on line, with a talented news equips of which editor association Brian J. Bowe and the veteran of CREEM Jeffrey Morgan, which works as writer in Canada.
