Credit insurance

The credit insurance is a very particular form of Assurance which guarantees the Entreprise S or the Banque S against the non-payments of borrowers which have occurred for reasons:

  • is which is specific to these debtors (insolvency)
  • is concerning external pressures (in particular political risk in the contracts with export comprising a credit customer). Here, the credit insurance is one of the components of the Assurance export

History

The credit insurance developed as of the end of the 19th century, but takes its rise in Western Europe between the two wars. Several companies are created in each country, some managing in more the political risk of insurance to export on behalf of the respective states.

In the years 1990, a movement of concentration saw the creation of three large companies, sharing the essence of a worldwide market remaining very centered on Western Europe:

  • Atradius,
  • Coface,
  • Euler Hermes. fusion of the two insurance companies credit of the group Allianz.
