Creative Intelligence

The creative intelligence is a type of Intelligence which adds Originalité to the solutions that she proposes.

One can distinger on a continuum:

Pure intelligence - creative intelligence (logical inventive, without Imagination) - intelligent creativity (reasoned imagination) - pure creativity.

It is very close to the fluid intelligence.

It is one of the components of the gaining Intelligence, beside the social intelligence, psychosocial or interpersonal (also called by some, since the best-seller of the book of David Goleman, “emotional intelligence”)

She was studied by Robert Sternberg which in his triarchic analysis of the intelligence, distinguishes the analytical intelligence, the creative intelligence and the intelligence practice and give creative intelligence following description:

“ the creative intelligence refers to the capacity to face, successfully, with new and unusual situations while being based on existing knowledge and competences.

“ For example, let us suppose that you are leading on a deserted country road and that your old car breaks down, because the tank of the radiator is empty. There is a pond in the vicinity but you do not have anything in the car which can be used to you as container so going there to draw water. There is no either dustbin in trimmings, in which you could have found a container adapted (or that you could have used itself like such). If you solve the problem by using an object like your sport shoes or one of the hub caps of the car like water container, then you used the creative intelligence. (…)

“ Contrary to the tasks which require an analytical intelligence, which has only one correct answer, the tasks requiérant the creative intelligence has open solutions or multiple solutions . ”
