Licenses

These licenses authorize certain uses freely definite by the authors, among eleven possibilities combined around four poles:

Attribution : signature of the initial author (obligatory choice in French right)
NonCommercial : prohibition to benefit commercial from work without derivative authorization of the author
No works : impossibility of integrating whole or part in a composite work, for example sampling ( sampling ) impossible
Share alike : divide with identical, obligation to repeat according to the same license

Adaptation to the legislations

End 2004, CERSA transposed the licenses in French rights (and also in French language). CRID adapted the licenses to the Belgian right, these Belgian licenses exist in French, Dutch and English.

The Foundation

The organization Creative Commons has as a general symbol “DC”. The movement Creative Commons proposes standard contract of offer of provision of works on line or out-line (nothing prevents you from creating CD or a book under a license Creative Commons ). Inspired by the licenses of free software and the movement Open source , these texts facilitate the use and the re-use of works (Texte S, Photo S, Musique, Web sites…). Instead of subjecting any exploitation of works to the prior approval of the holders of rights, the licenses Creative Commons make it possible the author to authorize in advance certain uses according to conditions expressed by him, and to inform the public of it.

Goal

The required objective is to encourage in manner the simple and licit circulation of works, the exchange and the creativity. Creative Commons is addressed thus to the authors who prefer to share their work and to enrich the common inheritance (the Commons ) by the culture and the accessible information freely. Work can thus evolve/move throughout its diffusion.

For the people who wish to authorize the communication with the public of their work only against one remuneration, the general system of the royalty will be adapted more than the licenses Creative Commons .

Any person who created a work (text, music, video, Web site, photography, etc) and which with the capacity to sign a bearing contract on this work can use one of the contracts Creative Commons . A contrario it is not possible to use a contract Creative Commons for a work on which one does not have the whole of the rights.
