Cratès of Athens (death v. 268 - 264 av. J.C.), Greek philosopher academician.

Biography

He was the pupil and the eromene (liked) of Polémon, and succeeded to him the head of the Academy (v. 275). Inseparable (so much so that it was said that they regulated their breathing one on the other), Polémon and divided the same burial to him.

Cratès wrote some books of philosophies and the speeches. It had Arcésilas de Pitane and Bion de Borysthène for disciples.
