Cradle off Filth

Cradle off Filth is a group of British Gothic Metal founded by Darren J. White, Jon Richard, Paul Ryan and Daniel Lloyd Davey, alias Dani Filth. In 1991 Their kind evolved/moved during their career, beginning with Death metal and gradually moving towards a Gothic style .

Biography

In its beginnings, the group frequently changes members and records four demonstrations. Cradle off Filth signs with Cacophonous Records in 1994 and launches off The Principle Evil Made Flesh . After other changes of line-up, Cradle off Filth launches Dusk and Her Embrace under the label Music For Nations , album which obtained a certain success from criticisms and increased the popularity of the group through the Europe. Whereas the popularity of the group grows, partly thanks to its concerts which become increasingly theatrical, Cruelty and the Beast obtains excellent criticisms and is sold with more than 200.000 specimens and other changes of members follow. On April 2nd and 3rd 2005, the British group fills the Elysium-Montmartre with Paris. The cameramen being able to be seen on the scene announce the exit of a live DVD. This last is called Peace through superior firepower , contains the concert in Paris, 6 clips and documentary on the life of the group (left on November 21st).

Their new album, Thornography left on October 16th, 2006. This album again marks a change of musical style of the group. Indeed the fronts of guitar resemble metal fronts more and more that to blackmetal. As the use of symphony orchestra is less present as before and also the female choruses are almost non-existent. To note the presence of the excellent Temptation recovery Off changing completely the style of Cradle Filth.

The polemic

Many polemics turn around the group, and among them the qualification of their musical style. They are classified in the kind horror metal symphonic and rejected by the purists of the black metal. Indeed, the black metal is a musical movement underground. The business success of Cradle Off Filth the special place completely of this movement " reserved with the initiés" insofar as it contributed to prostituer and to popularize the image of Black Metal whereas at its origins it seemed current aiming at dissociating scene and ideology death metal of the time, empty and commercial one said. But of course, it is always the quarrel of the groups known as " commerciaux" or " not commerciaux".

One can say that they have, to the manner of the groups of hard rock like AC/DC or Iron Maiden, extracted the sounds which they made theirs. For example, the voice of Dani Filth extremely modified (extremely acute or low), the addition of tablecloths of synthés worrying, the very distorted guitars and despite everything that of softness with feminine voices.

As a leader and a singer of the group Cradle off Filth, Dani Filth is the only member of the group which remained since the beginnings of the formation in 1991. The former members showed it to be themselves suitable the success of the group and to have regarded it as a solo project. Its first group named The Lemon Grove Kids. In 2003, it gave its voice to a character named Dominator in a cartoon film of the same name. He was also the main character of the film " Cradle Off Fear". What also marked the history of the group is this Tee-shirt with the inscription " Jesus has cunt" who alarmed the Vatican which qualified it " sick and offensive" (nauseating and provocant). The group will take again this slogan with the back of its DVD " Peace Through Superior Firepower".
