Crémines
Crémines is a common Suisse of the Canton of Bern, located in the District of Moutier. It belongs to the area of the the Bernese Jura, the French-speaking part of the Canton of Bern.
Geography
The village of Crémines is located at 6 km as the crow flies in the east of Moutier, chief town of the district. It is sprinkled by the river Raus and the brook Gaibiate, one of its affluents. Crémines is in the Cornet , also called Grand Valley .To north, the communal territory is limited by the chain of Raimeux, in the south by Graitery. The altitude of the village east to 611 meters. The culminating point is with 1250 meters, on the chain of Raimeux, with the locality On Golat .
The communal territory also extends in the Cluse from Saint-Joseph, in direction of the Canton of Soleure. The station of Saint-Joseph is located on the territory of Crémines.
History
The first written mention of Crémines goes back to 1461.Until the end of the 18th century, Crémines depended on Prévôté de Moutier-Grandval.
From 1797 to 1815, Crémines belonged to the France, within the department of Mount-Terrible, then, as from 1800, of the department of the Haut-Rhin, to which the department of Mount-Terrible was attached. By decision of the Congress of Vienna, the territory of old the évêché of Basle was allotted to the Canton of Bern, in 1815.
Economy
The population of Crémines lived agriculture until the end of the 19th century. With the rise of the construction of machine tools with Moutier, certain companies settled in Crémines. In the middle of the 20th century, Mr. Siegfried Roos founded an important printing works. He is also at the origin of the zoo known under the name of Siky Ranch .
