Coxyde

Coxyde (in Dutch Koksijde ) is a common Dutch-speaking of Belgium located in Flemish Région in the Province of Western Flanders, on the Belgian side.

Geography

Coxyde counts more than 20.000 inhabitants divided out of five distinct entities: and Coxyde which is divided into two zones:
  • Coxyde-Baths, seaside resort, ( Koksijde-Bad in Dutch) sometimes known also under the name of Coxyde-on-Sea ( Koksijde-aan-Zee in Dutch).
  • Coxyde-Village, inside the grounds.

Coxyde counts a natural reserve of 701 hectares on its territory, as well as a sand beach 8 kilometers length end on the the North Sea, and of a minimal width of 50 meters at the time of the highest tides and of maximum of 700 meters at the time of the lowest tides.

Events

Coxyde shelters since 1987, the international tennis tournament Flanders Ladies Trophy. This one was held until in 2006 completely with Coxyde-Baths, but since 2007, part of the matches is also played Coxyde-Village.
