Coutarnoux
Coutarnoux is a common French, located in the department of the Yonne and the area Burgundy.
Geography
History
Coutarnoux is quoted in 1188 under the name of " Curtis Arnulphi". It is given by Charles Martel to the abbey Saint-Germain of Auxerre in 735 which alienated it in 1741. The territory is divided into four strongholds with the Middle Ages. The forest of Hervaux was royal field under the Carolingiens and belonged to the lords of Isle with the Middle Ages. The 102 inhabitants in winter and 170 in summer, are spread out over 868 hectares of the commune located in the valley of Serene, to 4 HMS of its chief town, theSerene one. Its name with the 12° century gave the name of its inhabitants, Arnulphiens . The village was surrounded by a defensive wall of which there remain still some traces, in particular side of the setting one. The principal vestiges date from the 15° the century, most remarkable, the House of Goix is classified Historic building, this house, entirely restored is inhabited by a private individual. The Vault of Goix belongs to the Church Saint Martin's day and the base of a beautiful cross called the martyrdom, located at southern exit of the village, was set up by the families of Goix, which one imagined with more 13m height, unfortunately destroyed during the revolution. 7 of the 21 statues which this martyrdom counted were found, 5 restored are placed in the vault of Goix. The gate of the Priory is still visible with part of the enclosing wall and some vestiges of the vault. A Square Dovecote entirely restored and deprived, is visible of the unit Bassin, Lavoir and Feeding troughs. To still announce Sully, lime planted towards 1590 front the door of the church. The careers of Field Delay and Crot-Rake were used to supply the stones of the New Bridge in Paris and the Castle of Versailles.

The commune of Coutarnoux has vast forests strewn with many geological pits.Stone quarries of Field-Rotard which are exploited since XIIe century.
