CousinsGenWeb

CousinsGenWeb is a whole of French and Belgian genealogical sites managed by the voluntary ones of association FranceGenWeb which make it possible the Généalogiste to deposit its Liste flash by department and automatically to identify the patronyms shared with the other depositors.

The pages of each departmental or regional site (Belgium) are built on a common model. The principal restitutions of each site are:

  • List of the patronyms deposited detailed by commune: for each commune are indicated the genealogists depositors
  • Liste of the genealogists: for each genealogist the patronyms deposited broken down by place as well as the depositors having carried out are specified similar declarations
  • Liste of the communes: for each common list of the genealogists having declared at least a patronym on the commune

The manager of each site carries out a work of " normalization" names contained in the lists flash to facilitate the bringings together.

The size of the deposit is very variable from one department to another (figures September 2006): the site of Finistere collects thus 160.000 entries (combinations patronym/common) whereas the site of the High Alps gathers 3362 entries. All confused departments the total number of entries was approximately 2,3 million.
