Cours Charlier

Founded with Nantes, in 2000, on the initiative of catholic families of sensitivity traditionalist the Cours Charlier joins together an elementary school and a college. It draws its name from two brothers converted tardily with Catholicism Henri and André Charlier. The first was sculptor and the second principal and writer.

Not receiving any State aid, this school except contract, which gathers more than one hundred of pupils, is not bound by the official programs of State education although it follows the broad outlines from there. It thus remains completely free of its pedagogy. Thus she refuses co-education and accommodates only boys. In addition, it follows a course of study and methods of teaching traditional (memorizing, discipline, frequent examinations of knowledge, artistic culture). On each level, the religious instruction forms part of the school programs fully.

Its sensitivity traditionalist does not prevent the Charlier Course from posting at the same time its fidelity in the Vatican: one asks faithful to answer the call of Jean-Paul II, one celebrates the mass of saint Pie V, but while being based on a motu landlord of 1988. The refusal of co-education is justified by considerations of a psychological nature. The cost of the schooling is of 1.500 € for one year. This contribution, affirm the persons in charge, would cover only half of the cost; the remainder being covered by an important network benefactors.
