The Castle of Coupiac

The Château of Coupiac dates from the 15th century. It is formed by two wings out of bracket, resting directly on the rock, is flanked of three powerful circular towers. The observation of the three remaining towers gives a report on some differences in architecture which testify to a spreading out in the construction industry. Of Gothic style blazing as a whole, the castle imposes some by its dimensions on the surface and height, by the number of its machicolations, its Latrine S and loopholes. It counts also beautiful windows in the turns and of large mullioned windows on the second floor.

The Saint Veils

In 1986, an oratory, intended to permanently receive gilded the copper mounting containing the Saint Veils was arranged in a dependence of the presbytery. It is about the old square tower dominating the door of the fortifications which exists still, and the porch of the vault Saintt Pierre opening towards the castle. This oratory was magnificiently decorated frescos néo-Byzantines by the well-known artist in Aveyron, Nicolas Greschny, with like reasons, of the important moments of the life of the virgin.

Church of Coupiac

Semi-Romance, semi-Gothic, the current church is composed of a porch in semicircular arch, with two high arcades of a square tower, which an octagonal bell-tower with arrow surmounts. Of this bell-tower, one can hear, at the top of the Angelus, " Lou Trigonnomen" who precedes the ringing with grand circle. Inside, it is very roomy on the surface and in height it is 30 meters length, 14 meters of width, and 12 meters height. The sides are of style néo-novel and the central nave of neo-gothic style. It is remarkable by the size and the beauty of its chorus, by its large columns with capitals, on which rise imbedded columns supporting the intersecting ribs and the central vault. Its chorus is decorated carved woodworks and stalls. Its stained glasses are also interesting. They manufactured in 1885 by Dagrand of Bordeaux were undertaken of reputation at the time. They represent in particular scenes of the devotion to the Virgin Mary.
