Coupe de France of football 2005-2006
The Coupe de France 2005-2006 was the 89ème edition of the Coupe de France. This competition gathered 6.394 clubs amateurs and professionals and saw the sacring of the Paris Saint-Germain which carried it vis-a-vis the Olympique of Marseilles finally, the April 29th 2006. It was the seventh Coupe de France gained by the Parisian ones.
Course of the competition
The cut is divided into a total of fourteen turns, where, each division enters to one. It is a system with direct elimination where a team is eliminated since it loses a match. The clubs of the regional leagues enter at the time of the first or second round. The teams of CFA2 return to the third turn; those of CFA to the fourth; those of National to the fifth; those of League 2 with the seventh; those of League 1 with the ninth (thirty-second of finale).
In the event of equality, a prolongation is played and so insufficient, a meeting of shootings to the goal.

Thirty-second of finale
The matches of the thirty-second of finale took place the 6, 7 and January 8th 2006. The 20 teams of league 1 made their entry on the lists. Mans, Nice, Troyes, Nancy and Toulouse were the five teams of the elite has to fail as of this stage.
Sixteenth of finale
The matches of sixteenth of finale spread out between the January 27th and the February 22nd 2006. Metz, Ajaccio, Strasbourg, Lens, Auxerre and especially Monaco were the eliminated teams of L1.
Eighth of finale
The matches of the eighth of finale were played the 14, 21 and March 22nd 2006. The team of Calais, in CFA (equivalent of the fourth division), succeeds in for the second time in seven years rising among the eight best teams.
Quarterfinals
The matches of the quarterfinals were played the 11 and April 12th 2006. 15 goals were marked at the time of the four matches. The two teams out-elite, Montpellier (L2) and Calais (CFA) were eliminated.
Semi-final
The matches of the semi-final took place the April 20th 2006.
Finale
The final was held with the Stade de France with Saint-Denis, the April 29th 2006.
The Paris Saint-Germain carried it vis-a-vis the Olympique of Marseilles on the score of two goals to one. By gaining their seventh Coupe de France the Parisian ones were qualified for the first tower of the UEFA Cup 2006-2007.
