County of Yolo
The county of Yolo is a county of the State of California. With the census of 2000, it counted 168.660 inhabitants. Its seat is Woodland.
One of the 11 original counties of the State, the county of Yolo is the center of the production of Tomate S of California; it only accounts for with him 90% of the US market.
History
The County of Yolo was one of the eleven counties founders of the State, created in 1850.
In 1850 the exact name was " Yola" , Yolo is a name Amerindian being is a modification of the tribal word Yo-loy meaning " an abundant place in joncs" or is name of the chief, Yodo, or of the name of the village of Yodoi.
Government
The county is supervised by five supervisors of district, just as by the government of four built-in cities: Davis, West Sacramento, Winters, and Woodland.
Geography
According to U.S. Census Office, the county has an entire surface of 2649 km ². 2624 km ² are grounds and 25 km ² of water.
