County of Walk

The Marche (in Occitan Went it ˈmartsɔ ) corresponds today to the northern part of the the Limousin, but this territory formed at certain times a distinct administrative territory.

Left " tampon" (from where its name) between the possessions of the counts of Poitou, dukes of Aquitaine, and those of king de France, the county of Walk was probably born between 955 and 958. Placed under the authority of Boson I {{er}}, wire of Sulpice, lord of Charroux (the antique Carrofum ), it hitherto a41dernier $c-b1, e,10 $c-b26 ce $c-b16 $c-b43, bn,84 joined together two territories distinct, one around the Dorat (Low Walk), the other around Guéret (High step), to form a narrow entity stretched on approximately 80 km.

The county of Walk was surrounded by:

Guéret, Bellegarde, Bourganeuf and Bellac formed Elections there; two first under the General information of Mills, the two last under the General information of Limoges.

The succession of the counts of Walk (to refer to this article) until XIVe century is often difficult to establish with certainty, for lack of irrefutable documents. The County of Walk was plain with the Crown of France about 1531. Walk gave rise to the department of the Creuse and to part of the department of the High-Vienna (Bellac)
