County of Turns

The county of Turns is an old area of the Ancien Mode, recovering the south-west of the Paris basin, on both sides of the valley of the the Loire. It then formed the department of Indre-et-Loire.

Its inhabitants are the Tourangeaux and its principal city Tours. Disputed a long time between Blois and Anjou, gained by this last, the Touraine was annexed to the royal Domaine in 1259.
