County of Shefford
The County of Shefford car its name according to a small town of the County of Bedford in England, Shefford. It is a historical county located in the area of the Montérégie. The county was dissolved at the beginning of the Années 1980 and now forms part of the regional Municipalité of county (MRC) of High-Yamaska the.
It takes the form of almost trapezoidal. In the south is the Comté of Bromine (48km; 45 degrees NR 17 ') and complete limits of north, the west in the east, the Canton of Farnham, the Canton of Bromine and almost all limit of the north of the Canton of Bolton, with north and the North-West the County of Bagot (35 km; 45 degrees NR 41 ') and complete limits of the south, the east in the west, the Canton of Acton and the Canton of Upton, in the east, whole limit of the west of the Canton of Brompton in the County of Richmond and whole limit of the west of the Canton of Orford in the County of Sherbrooke (35 km; 72 degrees O 15 '), and in the west the County of Rouville (34 km; 72 degrees O 46 '). The north-eastern corner of the County of Shefford is in diagonal and at the other side of this border is a small portion of the south-western limit of the Canton of Durham in the Comté of Drummond and the part of the north of the south-western limit of the Canton of Melbourne in the County of Richmond. It should be noted that the part of the County of Bagot in the west of the Canton of Upton and all the County of Rouville are divided into secular parishes. The County of Shefford is divided into 7 cantons including 6 which takes the form of squares, 3 in the north (of the east in west, Cantons of Ely, Roxton and Milton) and 3 in the south (of the east in west, Cantons of Stukely, Shefford, and Granby). The Canton of Upton, located at the north-western corner of the county, is a band measuring 1,25 km by 6,25 km. The chief town of the county east Waterloo in the Canton of Shefford. The most known city of the county is Granby, located in the canton of the same name, considered for its annual festival of music and song. Another well-known city of the county east Bromont, located in the south-western corner of the Canton of Shefford. Among the facts which make the fame of Bromont are: the Olympic events of summer 1976 connected to horsemanship took place with Bromont; the IBM company has a factory with Bromont, and the South Korean automobile company Hyundai built in the Années 1980 a factory with Bromont, which it dismantled tens of years later.
