County of Pyeongchang

Pyeongchang ( 평창군 ) is a town of South Korea, in the Province of Gangwon, to 150 km of Seoul. Its population is approximately 50.000 inhabitants.

Sheltering a winter sports resort, the city was candidate, without success, with the organization of the Winter Olympics of 2010 and of the Winter Olympics of 2014. This last candidature had received the support of the North Korea.
