County of Papineau

The county of Papineau is a historical county of the province of Quebec to the Canada. The county was named in the honor of Louis-Joseph Papineau, Canadian politician and lord of the Small-Nation.

The county of Papineau was limited to the west by the Comté of Hull and the Comté of Gatineau.

The majority of the territory of the county of Gatineau was included/understood in the regional municipality of county (MRC) of Papineau during its creation in 1983. A part in south-west is included/understood in the town of Gatineau. A part in the west is now included/understood in the MRC of the Hill-with-the Outaouais. Finally a part in the North-East is included/understood in the MRC of the Laurentides.
