County of Namur
The county of Namur is an old county which raised of the Germanic Roman Holy roman Empire, which was between the évêché of Liege, the Duché of the Brabant and the Comté of Hainaut. It included/understood the towns of Namur, Charleroi, Givet, Bouvines, Marienbourg and Fleurus.
History
At the end of the Carolingian time, the county of Lommegau belonged to the count Berenger. This county became county of Namur thereafter. Its descendants are transmitted it until Henri the Blind man count de Namur and of Luxembourg, which is constrained to yield it to its nephew Baudouin V of Hainaut. During one century the counts of Luxembourg will try to take it again. In 1212, Philippe Ier Noble the yields it to its nephew Philippe II of Courtenay, then Baudouin II of Courtenay sells it in 1263 with GUI of Dampierre, in order to finance the reconquest of Constantinople. It passes then to a branch junior by the family of Dampierre, until Jean III which sells it with Philippe III the Good, duke of Burgundy in 1430, which then joins together with the Burgundian Netherlands.This one becomes in 1549 the Spanish Netherlands, then in 1581 integrates the Netherlands of the south at the time of the secession of the Protestant provinces. In 1659 and 1678, the southern part of Hainaut is attached to the France. In 1713 and by the Treated of Utrecht, the Spanish Netherlands become the Austrian Netherlands. In 1795, it east conquered by the armies of the French Republic, which make of it the department of Sambre-and-Meuse, and in 1815 the Congrès of Vienna gives it to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, where it becomes the Province of Namur.

Armorial bearings
The armorial bearings former to 1190 are not known. Philippe Ier Noble the, wire of Baudouin V of Hainaut and Marguerite of Flanders, count de Namur in 1196, broke the armorial bearings of Flanders to carry: gold to the sand lion, armed and lampassé of mouths and with the band of mouths
