The county of Middlesex is located at the south of the State of Connecticut (the United States). According to the census of 2000, the county had a total population of 155.071 inhabitants.
As for the seven other counties of Connecticut, there is no gouvernment county; in fact the individual cities are responsible for the police force, of the regiment of Sapeurs-pompiers, the schools, etc
Geography
According to the Office of the census of the United States, surface of the county east 1.137 km ², including 956 km ² of grounds and 181 km ² of water levels (either 15,90%).

Demography
According to the Census of 2000, there were 155.071 inhabitants, 61.341 households, and 40.607 families in the county. The Population density was of 162 hab/km ². There were 67.285 houses with a density of 70 maisons/km ². The ethnic decomposition of the population was: 91,28% white; 4,42% black; 0,17% Amerindian; 1,56% Asian S; 0,04% natives of the islands of the Peaceful ; 0,97% of the other races; 1,56% of two or more races. 3,00% of the population were Hispanique or Latino of any race.There were 61.341 households, of which 30,3% had children of less than 18 years, 54,4% were married couples , 8,8% had a woman who was isolated relative, and 33,8% were not-family households. 27,2% of the households were made up people alone and 10,0% 65 years people alone or more. The average household comprised 2,43 people and the average family had 2,98 people.
In the county the population pyramid was 23,2% below 18 years, 7,3% from 18 to 24,31,1% from 25 to 44,24,8% from 45 to 64, and 13,6% which were 65 years old or more. The median age was 39 years. For 100 women, there were 95,1 men. For 100 18 year old women or more, there were 92,1 men.
