The county of Kent (in English: in Kent County ) is located in the central part of the State of the Delaware, with the the United States. Its population was of 126.697 inhabitants in 2000. The chief town of the county, Dover, is also the capital of the State.

History

The English started to settle in the valley of the St Jones River in the years 1670, formerly known under the name of Wolf Creek . William PEN instituted the Comté of Kern as a successor of St Jones. PEN and ordered the creation of a court, which was built in 1697. The town of Dover (1717) became the capital of the Delaware in 1777. In 1787 this state was the first to ratify the Constitution of the United States of America and became thus the First State , the first State .

The county of Kent was an average agricultural area during the 18th century. More recently, in the Years 1960, the small town of Frederica was the place where were created the combinations astronauts of NASA who left within the framework the Projet Apollo. The company continues to currently manufacture spacesuits.

Geography

According to the office of census of the United States, the county has a surface of 2.072 km ² including 26,30% consisted of water levels (545 km ²).
