The county of Hidalgo (in English: in Hidalgo County ) is a county located in the extreme south of the State of the Texas at the the United States. The county is named in the honor of Miguel Hidalgo. The seat of the county east Edinburg. According to the census of 2000, its population is of: 569463 inhabitants.
The county has a surface of: 4099 km ², of which: 4066 km ² on the terrestrial surfaces.
