The county of Gotland ( Gotlands Län in Swedish) is a county Swedish located on the island of the same name, in the Baltic.

Administration
The main missions of the Board of directors of the county ( Länsstyrelse ), directed by the prefect of the county, are to satisfy the main trends provided by the Parlement and the Gouvernement, to promote the development of the county and to lay down regional objectives.
Gotland is only the Swedish county not having an local assembly. The island forms in addition only one commune ( Kommuner ), the Commune of Gotland, at the local level.
Because of absence of local assembly, the capacities normally reserved for the latter are assumed by the commune of Gotland.
