County of Gbarpolu

Created in 2001, the Comté of Gbarpolu is youngest of the 15 counties of the Liberia. Located at the North-East of Liberia, the county has a population of approximately 131.227 inhabitants. Its capital is Bopolu.

Geography and economy

The large majority of Gbarpolu is covered with forests. Before the civil war in Liberia, mining industries appeared in the forefront of the economic activity of the area. After the war, touts the economic sectors made devastated; mining activities included/understood.
