County of Dalécarlie

The county of Dalécarlie ( Dalarnas län in Swedish) is a county Swedish located in the mid-west of the country. It is close to the counties of Jämtland, Gävleborg, Västmanland, Örebro and Värmland. It also divides a border, in the east, with the Norwegian counties of Sør-Trøndelag and Hedmark. Its capital is Falun.

Historical province

The current county of Dalécarlie has practically the same borders as the historical province of Dalécarlie.

To evoke this area with Swedish, it is him to evoke many feelings. Dalécarlie is indeed for much the heart of Sweden, the cradle of its traditions, its nature, its lakes and its forests. It constitutes a place between two Suede: that of North, with the large uninhabited forests and that of the South, more inhabited, cultivated. Dalécarlie also played a prevalent part in the history of Sweden. The copper mine of Shelly sand, the epopee of Gustave Ier Vasa are as many bases of the Swedish company resulting from this area.

Administration

The county of Dalécarlie, until in 1997, was called county of Kopparberg , which literally meant “copper Mountain” referring to the Large Copper Mine with Shelly sand.

The main missions of the Board of directors of the county ( Länsstyrelse ), directed by the prefect of the county, are to satisfy the main trends provided by the Parlement and the Gouvernement, to promote the development of the county and to lay down regional objectives.

The county of Dalécarlie inherited its blazon the historical province of Dalécarlie. When it is represented with a royal crown, the blazon symbolizes the Board of directors of the county.
