County of Cook (Illinois)

The county of Cook is a county located in the Illinois at the United States. After the County of Los Angeles, it is the second county more populated of the United States with 5230451 inhabitants in 2004. Nearly the three quarters of its residents the Ville Chicago live which are in this county. Its joint counties are called the “collar counties” or are the majority of the suburbs of Chicago. The tendency of the county of Cook to vote for the democratic party what is not the case of the counties which surround it (DuPage, Lake, and Will) which are rather republican.

Geography

According to the United States Census Office, the county has an entire surface of 4235 km ² (1635 Mi ²) of which 2449 km ² (956 semi ²) are grounds and 1785 km ² (689 semi ²) are 42.16% of water (especially the Lake Michigan).
