Coligny-le-Neuf

The seigniory of Coligny-le-Neuf, had by the House of Coligny, was located in the Bresse and the Revermont (currently Département of Ain and the the Jura).

It constitutes a dismemberment of old the Principauté of Coligny or Souveraineté of Revermont.

Feudally, the ground of Coligny-le-Neuf entered freely the homage of the count (then duke) of Savoy: it belonged thus to the seigniories associated with the States with the duke with Savoy, and for this reason made homage to the suzerains of this house. Coligny-le-Neuf thus became French with all the Bresse, thanks to the Traité of Lyon concluded in 1601.

Erection in county

The county of Coligny the Last nine was set up in 1559 by the duke of Savoy, for the benefit of Gaspard II of Coligny, Admiral de France (1519 - 1572), on the ground of Coligny-le-Neuf.

Erection in duchy

This county was set up in Duché in 1648 with the profit of Gaspard IV of Coligny (1620 - 1649), great-grandson of Gaspard II.
