County of Bollinger

The county of Bollinger (in English: in Bollinger County ) is a county of the Missouri to the the United States. The seat of the county is located at Marble Hill. The county goes back to 1851 and it was named in homage to George Frederick Bollinger. With the census of 2000, the population consisted of: 12029 individuals.

History

The county was named according to George Frederick Bollinger which was the eleventh wire of Heinrich Bollinger. George Frederick Bollinger persuaded 20 other families of North Carolina to be settled in the area of the current county. To acquire the grounds, it had to sign a document declaring that him and the other colonists all were catholic. Actually, the majority of the colonists (immigrant with beginning of the year 1700 of German origin) belonged to the German Protestant church. Nevertheless, the Spanish commander Don Louis Lorimier of the area close to Cape Girardeau was impressed by the man and weighed so that George Frederick and its colonists can settle. The colonists arrived in January 1800. The area passed at the same time of the Spanish statute to the French statute (Louisiana) until 1803 when Louisiana was sold with American.

The population density was of 7 inhabitants per km ² and the density of dwellings (: 5522 on the whole) was of 3 dwellings per km ². The population was made up of 97,79% of white, of 0,21% Afro-Americans, 0,72% of Amerindians and 0,22% the Asian ones.

34,30% of the households had children of less than 18 years, 63,8% were married couples. 26,2% of the population had less than 18 years, 7,8% between 18 and 24 years, 26,8% between 25 and 44 years, 24,5% between 45 and 64 years and 14,8% above 65 years. The Middle Age was 38 years. The proportion of women was of 100 per 97,9 men.
