County of Bergen

The county of Bergen is the county more populated State of the New Jersey, with the the United States. Its population was of: 902561 inhabitants in 2000. Its chief town is Hackensack. The county belongs to the agglomeration of the Grand New York.

Geography

The top of the county east Bald Mountain close to the border with the State of New York, which culminates with 355 meters with the top of the sea level. Principal relief of county is constituted by New Jersey Palisades, of cliffs abrupt which follow bank Eastern of Hudson, but interior of grounds is rather flat since it finds in majority in valley of Hackensack, if one excludes the north-western part, which includes/understands hills which form the buttresses of Ramapo Mountains, a chain of the the Appalachian Mountains.

The county is bordered by the Comté of Rockland in North (New York), by the counties of Westchester (the Bronx) and of Manhattan in the East, by the Comté of Hudson in the South and by the Comté of Passaic in the West.

The county of Bergen has a network of roads developed, which includes the northern termini of the New Jersey Turnpike (part of the Interstate 95) and the Garden State Parkway, the Eastern terminus of the Interstate 80 and part of the Interstate 287. The US Roads 46,202,9,9W, and the New Jersey State Roads 4,17,3,120,208, as well as the Palisades Interstate Parkway also serve the area.

The access to New York is carried out mainly, for the motorists, by the George Washington Bridge with Fort Lee and the Lincoln Tunnel in the Comté of Hudson. The New Jersey Transit operates trains on the lines of the county of Bergen, Erie and Pascack Valley, which are connected to the service PATH starting from Hoboken Terminal.

The only airport of the county is the Airport of Teterboro Airport in Teterboro, which is directed by the Port Authority off New York and New Jersey. The majority of the commercial air traffic is managed by the International airport Newark Liberty close, located in the county of Essex.
