County of Autauga

The county of Autauga ( Autauga County in English) is a county located in the State of Alabama. According to the Office of the census of the United States, its population was of 43.671 inhabitants in 2000. Its seat is Prattville.

History

The county of Autauga is established the November 21st 1818, one year after the Alabama became the 22e State the United States. At the time of its establishment, the county includes/understands the current county of Autauga, the county of Elmore and the Comté of Chilton. At that time, a Amerindian tribe (the Autauga ) lives in this area, mainly in a village named Atagi (meaning pure water ). The Autauga are the members of the tribe Alabama. They send much warlike to fight against Andrew Jackson at the time of the War Creeks. The County of Autauga is a piece of the territory yielded by Creeks by the signature of the treaty of Strong Jackson in 1814. The first Siège of the county is Jackson' S Mill, time to decide that it intalle with Washington, on the old site of Atagi, in the south-west of the county. In 1830, the seat moves with Kinston, which occupies a more central position and the town of Washington decreases for finally disappearing at the end from the Années 1830.
