County of Évreux
The county of Évreux sat on old the Pagus of the Évrecin.
Its capital is Évreux and its principal fortresses were Tillières-on-Avre and Laigle. The county of Évreux defended the border Norman in the south vis-a-vis the Perche, with the lords of Bellême and the Comté of Chartres
The first count d' Évreux is Robert the Dane, wire of Richard Ier Jarl of Normandy, he is also archbishop of Rouen. In 1037, Richard, his son will succeed to him.
Simon Ier de Montfort wife Agnes d' Évreux which transmits the county to the family of Montfort-l' Amaury.
Entered the royal Domaine in the May 22nd 1200 by the Traité Narrow part the county is given in Apanage by Philippe III with his Louis son.
Charles the Bad, king of Navarre was count d' Évreux.
In 1316 and again in 1427, the county of Évreux is set up in county-peerage.
