Counts and princes of the House of Nassau

The first counts of Nassau were actually count de Laurenbourg, the first count de Nassau was Valéran Ier de Laurenbourg in Nassau.

Henri II of Nassau had two wire: Valéran II of Nassau and Othon Ier de Nassau. First of all they controlled together, then into 1255, the possessions of Nassau were divided, thus were born the Valramienne line whose founder was Valéran II of Nassau, the Ottonienne line whose founder was Othon Ier de Nassau.

The Valramienne line gave several families of which: The extinct family of Nassau-Wiesbaden-Idstein in 1605, the extinct family of Nassau-Weilburg in 1964. The Weilburg-Saarbrucken line, in 1659 the line of Nassau-Ottweiler, Nassau-Usingen.

The Ottonienne line gave the family of Nassau-Hadamar, Nassau-Beilstein, Nassau-Dillenbourg, Orange-Nassau, Nassau-Siegen, this Ottonienne line gave later kings to the Netherlands, a king of England and Scotland.

In 1605, the possessions of Nassau-Wiesbaden-Idstein were integrated into the possessions of Nassau-Weilbourg-Saarbrucken.

Counts de Nassau-Beilstein

In 1561, the possessions of Nassau-Beilstein were integrated into Nassau-Dillenbourg.

Counts de Nassau Dietz

In 1606 Nassau-Dillenbourg was divided between Nassau-Dietz, Nassau-Siegen.

In 1702, set up in principality, the line of Nassau-Dietz became the Maison of Orange-Nassau.

Orange-Nassau princes

In 1814, the Congress of Vienna granted the principality ottonienne Nassau to the line valmérienne (Nassau-Weilbourg). In compensation, it was granted to the Orange-Nassau princes the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
