The country of the Albanian or simply the Albanian is a small area of the Savoy, between the Lac of Le Bourget and the Lac of Annecy, with the doors of the Regional natural park of the Wallows. It is about a broad undulating plain bordered of mountains skirting the Rhone in the West, crossed by Chéran, and whose most important city is Rumilly.
History

Under the reign of Charlemagne, the Sapaudia (current Savoy) is divided into 7 districts of which that of Rumilly and its " pagus albanensis" , a little broader than the Albanian of today.

Of 1690 with 1697, the States of Savoy are invaded by the troops of the king de France Louis XIV.

The country of the Albanian gathers the 37 communes of the three following cantons. The two first belong to the department of the Haute-Savoie and the third at the department of the Savoy. Economy
Territory mainly rural (breeding). Formerly, the Albanian was a high-place of the culture of the tobacco in France.Rumilly has an important industrial park (Tefal, Nestlé). There exists also an important industrial park with Alby-on-Chéran (Galderma). Two new inter-commune ZAE are under development, one in the sector of Martenex and another in the sector of Surchères.
These last years, of many logistic platforms were installed and developed on the territory.
- In project, the French Post office will establish her new industrial platform mail for the departments of Savoy and Haute-Savoie, on the zone of activity of Balvay with Rumilly for an investment of 31 million euros. The new sorting office will be equipped with seven machines of tri industrialist able each one to sort 35.000 letters per hour.
The territory is served by a highway and the train. Airports with Annecy, Geneva-Cointrin and Lyon-Satolas.
