Country of Thelle
The country of Thelle is a natural Région of France included/understood in the Département of Oise.
Geography
Situation
The country of Thelle is located in Oise, in Picardy, enters, in the south, the northern point of the French Vexin and, in north, the Eastern end of the Pays of Bray and the Clermontois. It is bordered in the west by the Norman Vexin and in the east by the valley of the Oise, and, beyond, the plate of the forest Valois multien.
The country of Thelle includes/understands communes of the valley of Troesne and Esches which are also comparable with the fringes north of French Vexin. Indeed, there exist vexinoises communes of a country of Thelle considered as geographical and landscape entity with whole share. In the same way, certain communes in edge of Oise are often seen like belonging to the natural entity of the valley of Oise more than of the country of Thelle with properly spoken. That is also worth with the fringes of the country of Thelle and the country of Bray.
Topography, hydrology and geology
The country of Thelle is a tilted Plateau of NORTH-SOUTH orientation which extends, in north, of the Cuesta of Bray to the cuesta of Vexin in the south. It is delimited in the east by the valley of Oise and in the west by that of the Epte. The plate is notched by Vallée S flat-bottomed and small valleys. The rivers which run there are, in addition to the rivers borders, the Troesne, the Esches, the Ru of Aunette, the Ru of Mesnil or the Ru of Pouilly. The country of Thelle is divided between the Bassin pouring of Oise and that of Epte.
The basement of the country of Thelle is primarily made up of Craie secondary , sometimes rich in Silex. One also finds there Sable S and Argile S. It is distinguished from that of French Vexin in the south which is him Calcaire and of the buttonhole of Bray in north, with geology by very heterogeneous definition.
The culminating point of Oise (235 meters) is on the plate of Thelle with Lalandelle.
Landscapes
The country of Thelle presents varied landscapes. As a whole it is largely dominated by a mixed landscape structure made up of timberings (concentrated in the west), cultures and pastures but one finds there also landscapes of mixed-farming in the wet valleys (valleys of Troesne and its affluents), of the industrial or postindustrielles valleys (valley of Epte on the level of Sérifontaine, valley of Esches of Méru to Chambly) and a zone of field crop in the fertile plain of Fine sands.
The Silex is found in the traditional construction industries and made figure of transition between the style from frame vexinois (mainly out of stone Calcaire) and that from the country from Bray (mainly in Brique). The flint of the country of Thelle is thus mixed with the calcareous stone in the construction industries with the south with the plate, whereas it is found used with brick in north. It is also mixed with wood and the Torchis.
The Urbanisation concentrates in the valleys, in particular that of Esches between Méru and Chambly. Many villages of the country of Thelle are presented in the shape of the village-street where the habitat is built on line along a single axis. To usoir (space not built between the way and the dwellings, often of grass) still finds itself there.
History
Knowing that 75% of the Picardy villages existed already under Charlemagne, the establishment of the men in the cities and villages of the country of Thelle are undoubtedly old. The traces of the Gallo-Roman time mark out the department indeed. With the Middle Ages, Epte is a valley strengthened since the partition of the Vexin. The major christianization of Oise with place starting from the XIIe century by the establishment of abbeys on the territory. From this time, the clearings become new extensive. The country of Thelle undoubtedly suffers particularly from the Guerre One hundred year old, as it was the case in Vexin or more in north.
The grounds where the immense forest of Thelle was, of which there remains only one part in the west, gave its name to the current country. The clearing took place tardily, in the last centuries of the Middle Ages.
The Industrialization of the country of Thelle was limited to the valley of Esches, where it is relatively old (industries of the Nacre in Méru, industrial frame in the center of Bornel), and with part of the valley of Epte, where it is more recent, out of the centers of the cities. The plate suffered from the rural migration for the benefit of the urban centres.
Administrative organization
The country of Thelle is located for major part in the Arrondissement of Beauvais but also in the Arrondissement of Senlis. At the level of the canton also, administrative divisions overlap several natural areas. Moreover, on a communal scale, some of the 83 communes which compose it are regarded as belonging to the French Vexin or the Pays of Bray. It appears that the country of Thelle is a good illustration of the complexity of the delimitation of the borders of the natural areas of France and, therefore, to carry out with certainty a calculation of the communes the component.
District of Beauvais
More precisely, the Canton of Méru account 18 communes in the country of Thelle on the twenties which composes it, Chavençon and Neuville-Bosc being without ambiguities vexinoises. It is a canton very divided between Vexin and Thelle because nine of its communes in spite of are very regarded as vexinoises (Amblainville, Hénonville or Villeneuve-the-Fine sands for example). In the Canton of Chaumont-in-Vexin, the majority of the 37 communes geographically form part of the country of Thelle. However, the communes of the valley of Troesne and those located on the slopes of the cuesta of Vexin are considered common vexinoises, as their name indicates it sometimes (it is rather clear being of Chaumont-in-Vexin or Hardivillers-in-Vexin, but it is also the case for Sort-the-City, Villers-on-Sorts or Éragny-on-Epte). It was planned with the creation of the Regional natural park of French Vexin in 1995 to attach the whole of the canton to the Park, proof of the identity weakness of the country of Thelle vis-a-vis the territory very framed politico-administrativement of French Vexin francilien. Indeed, all the communes of the canton are not clearly and only vexinoises.
On the twenty communes of the Canton of Auneuil, eleven belong to the country of Thelle, this canton being also located on part of the Pays of Bray at north. The Canton of Coudray-Saint-Germinating account him eleven communes out of 18 in Country-of-Thelle, the uncertainties met with Vexin being found to a lesser extent also with the country of Bray: for example the commune of Puiseux-in-Bray is geographically in the country of Thelle but it is excluded some by its name. The commune of Flavacourt as for it is looked like vexinoise, it is only canton in this case, while at the same time it is rather far away from the cuesta of Vexin.
Lastly, the Canton of Noailles new account communes on 21 in the country of Thelle, of which some carry it in their name (Mortefontaine-in-Thelle or Laboissière-in-Thelle for example).
District of Senlis
The Canton of Neuilly-in-Thelle account 12 of its 15 communes in the country of Thelle, much of them the bearing one in their toponymy, with the image of the chief town. The Canton of Montataire account him two communes of the Country of Thelle on the ten which composes it: Blaincourt-lès-Précy and Précy-on-Oise.
The cantons which appear as the heart of the country of Thelle seem well to be the canton of Noailles and the canton of Neuilly-in-Thelle where the communes are located carrying the mark of the country in their name.
Intercommunality
The inter-commune structures which include/understand communes geographically located in the country of Thelle make it possible to read its overlaps with the entities close to the department, all the more easily as only the commune of Sérifontaine remained isolated from these regroupings, which gather 96% of the communes of Oise in 2007. It is about:
- the the Community of communes of the Country of Thelle (36 communes) which includes/understands some communes except perimeter however.
- the the Community of communes of Fine sands (21 communes) which includes/understands many the vexinoises communes country of Thelle.
