The country of Gavot is a small area of the French Chablais, consisted of a high plateau surplomblant the Lac Léman. It extends from the Gorges of Dranse and the tops of Evian to the summits of the Montagne of Mémises (1 677 m) and of the Dent of oche (2 222 m), that is to say 17 km of length and 5 km broad.
