Country of Coast-in-Chablais

The country of the Coast in Chablais is a country of the French Chablais, (department of Haute-Savoie, area the Rhone-Alps), consisted of the territories extending to the doors from Geneva between the agglomerations from Annemasse and Thonon-the-Baths.

It is administratively divided between three cantons (Northern Annemasse, Douvaine, Western Thonon) and two districts (Saint-Julien-in-Genevese and Thonon).
Electorally, it belongs to the 5th district of Haute-Savoie.

By the road since Annemasse in the west, Thonon-the-Baths in the North-East, and country of the Green Valley in the south;

History

Geography

The country of the Coast in Chablais extends between the Mont Boisy (735 m) in the North-West, and the pre-alpine chain of the Massif of Voirons extending from the Grand Signal (1 486 m) with the Mont of Hermone (1 420 m), is 22 km of length and 7 km broad.

The territory consists of 2 great geographical areas

in north, a zone of hills, natural passage between Annemasse and Thonon-the-Baths;

In the south, mountainous of the Voirons, so known solid mass under the term of “balcony of Léman”. This solid mass overhanging the Lake léman, separates the plain from the French Chablais and the Pays of the Valley green, accessible by the Col from Saxel and the Col of Neck.

Economy

Farming mountain and hill: breeding, cheeses, fodder, honey, exploitation of the forest, fruits red (strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrant, currants)

Cheese dairies in Cervens, Good-in-Chablais, Brenthonne and Lully.
