In 1236, Magnus, wire of Gille Brigte, Mormaer of Angus and Ingibjorg itself girl of Ingrid, a girl of Jarl Rognvaldr II Kali and Erik Stagbrellr, is invested county of the Orkneys by the king Haakon IV of Norway.

These counts come from the union of the count Malise or Máel Ísu de Strathearn with Matilda which was probably a girl of the count Gibbon.
