Count de Pembroke
The title of count de Pembroke , associated with the castle of Pembroke in the Wales, was created by the king Etienne of England probably in 1138. The title was recreated nine times then, always in the Pairie of England.
The current count holds the title of count de Montgomery created in 1605 to sir Philippe Herbert, the young person wire of the 2nd count, before it succeeds the 3rd count. The two titles were always since plain. He holds also the subsidiary titles of baron Herbert of Cardiff , of Cardiff in the county of Glomoran (1551), baron Herbert de Shurland , of Shurland in the island of Sheppey of the county of Kent (1605), and Baron Herbert of Lea, Lea in the county of Wilts (1861). All these titles are in the peerage of England, except the title baron Herbert of Lea who is in the Pairie of the United Kingdom.
The family seat of the counts is in Wilton House in the Wiltshire.
