Count Dooku

The Count Dooku (102-19 Av. BY) is a character of the Star Wars which appear in the episode II and episode III.

History

Former knight Jedi, heir to a family of aristocrats and diplomats, he was the apprentice of Master Yoda and the Master of Which-Gon Jinn. He pointed out himself in the history of the Jedi order while resigning of this one, thinking that the order went in the bad direction by serving a corrupted republic (made clarified in the episode I). Strong man of spirit, his ideas were often in contradiction with those of the Conseil and often defied this last. This character trait is found at its disciple Who-Gon Jinn.

It has as a characteristic to raise saber S whose handles are curved, thus conferring to them a greater handiness at the time of the duels. Another characteristic, it greets its adversary before each duel, in the purest tradition of the fencers, which confers a certain aristocratic elegance to him.

Here nearly 10 years that it sank in the obscure side where it is known under the name of Dark Tyranus ; he becomes the second apprentice of Dark Sidious.

It is on the orders of Dark Sidious that Dooku killed his/her friend, the Jedi Sifo Dyas, which had approached the cloneurs of Kamino to carry out the creation of an army to defend the République. Dooku takes again the project and recruits Jango Fett like model with cloner.

On another side, always according to the directives of Dark Sidious, it maintains a separatist agitation and takes the head of it once the “American Civil War” declared at the time of the Bataille of Geonosis. Under the name of Dooku and using of its influence in the higher realms, it called upon the richness of the most powerful barons of the galaxy (trade, industry, banking environment etc), consolidating the separatist movement, thus enabling him to defy the weakened Republic. Thus Confédérations from the Independent Systems was born the . During the battle of Géonosis, it was distinguished to have held Obi-Wan Kenobi, like Anakin Skywalker in failure. Both Jedi were saved only by the arrival of the Master Jedi Yoda, that Dooku was constrained to fight. It was in its turn put in failure at the time of the duel of Force against Yoda, then was very slightly dominated during the duel with the laser saber. Nevertheless, it weakened the base of a column which could threaten to crush both Jedi out of combat. Yoda chooses to let Dooku from go away and saved both Jedi. The Sith could thus join the Lord Sith Dark Sidious, entrusting the plans of the Black Star to him.

During the War of the clones, Sith will send Asajj Ventress, Jedi having rocked of the obscure Côté of the Force and having rejoined the Sith cause, to face Anakin Skywalker to kill it on order of Dark Sidious, mission during which the young person Padawan will overcome it while drawing from his anger. After the loss of Asajj Ventress, its faithful right-hand man will not be other than the infamous one and without pity Général Grievous with which it will teach the art of the laser Saber, making it frightening for Jedi with the combat.

After three years of continuous war between the Separatist Forces and a Republic wavering, the count Dooku, having simulated the removal of the chancellor Palpatine will find on board vessel-admiral of the fleet Séparatiste, Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker come in the intention to deliver it, and will start the combat.

It is during this ultimate confrontation that, after having struck the General Kenobi, Dooku lost his two hands of the blade of Skywalker. Hoping for a grace of its Palpatine Master, it was surprised when this last ordered in Skywalker to carry out it, in order to make its new apprentice of it. The Count Dooku realized too late that treason was the way of Sith… One thinks that after the crushing of the vessel-admiral on a zone of landing of Coruscant, the body of the Count was buried under the remains of the vessel.

Interpret

The Count Dooku is interpreted by Christopher Lee and is doubled in French version by Bernard Dhéran.

Significance

• Tyranus : Latin Tyran in wants to say. It is also about an American bird.
• Dooku: mean Poison in Japanese (because of its treason of Jedis).
• the initial C.D. of the Count Dooku are a wink with the Count Dracula, often interpreted by Christopher Lee with the cinema (with besides the actor Peter Cushing interpreting Large Moff Tarkin in episode 4)
