The costumière (or costumier) is charged with the Costume S, that it is for a Tournage or a theatrical Représentation. It can buy them for modern clothing, or carry them out in workshop. She works in close cooperation with the decorator, starting from the models of the Décor. Normally, the costumes are designed at the same time as the decorations.
The Additional S of clothing such as shoes, caps and hats in any kind, belong to the costume.
Other trades take over costumière: the dressmakers dealt with the final improvements (trade which tends to disappear). Formerly, they could go up on scene during the very last repetitions, to adjust the costumes with the size of the Acteur S. The Dresser, as for it, maintains the costumes and helps the actors to get dressed.
