Cossaye
Cossaye is a common French, located in the department of the Nievre and the area Burgundy.
Geography
History
- In 1287, Cossaye was known under name COCOYUM, of the name Gallo-Roman Coccius (man) or Romain Cortis (field), then COCAIO, COSSEY, COSSAIE, COSSA, COUSSAY, COUSSAYE, finally in 1594 COUSSAYS and COSSAYE (stronghold of the whole of the castles of DECIZE).

largest Gisement of coal of France (estimated at 250 million tons) was discovered by the Bureau of geological and mining research (BRGM) between Lucenay-the-Aix and Cossaye in 1986 after 5 years of research.

This coal mine should be exploited (partly with open sky) starting from 2010 (the project must still be voted) and a Thermo plant of 1000 megawatts would then be built on the site in order to exploit this energy source directly.
