Comments

This series is very traditional in the style “American series family”, with this detail close the heroes are mainly Afro-Americans. The subjects treat difficulties which the children encounter while growing. For example, the son, Théo, must face a problem of Dyslexie, just like truth wire of Bill Cosby who suffered from this disorder.

The series received very good criticisms and gained many rewards (Emmy Awards, NAACP Image Awards, BMI Film & TV Awards, Golden Globe Award S, Humanitas Prize S, Image Awards, Television Critics Association Awards, Peabody Award S…).

At the time of its diffusion, some criticized the series, reproaching him for giving a not very realistic vision of easy an Afro-American family, being unaware of the relations between Noirs and White. Others saw the series as a portrait of what the Afro-Americans could one day become, and thought that to show the life of an Afro-American family from day to day with his daily difficulties was a good way of contributing to the reduction of the problems of racism in the United States.

Cosby Show gave rise to a derived series entitled Campus Show , centered on the character of Denise.
